| The demand for highly skilled estheticians/beauty therapists has risen dramatically in the past few years. Although the first choice of most graduates is to open their own clinic or spa, other job opportunities are also available in beauty salons, skin care clinics, spas, cruise ships, hospitals, films and even teaching. Some prefer to set up a home-visiting practice or become involved in the marketing of skin care products or equipment. Physicians such as dermatologists and plastic surgeons are beginning to recognize the value of the esthetician's work, and this has led to a growing demand for medical and Clinical estheticians. The profession is continuously expanding in other areas, and it is one of the few businesses where one can work independently and not be under the supervision of another professional. Skin care clinics/salons are autonomous enterprises which are commercially profitable in comparison with other professionals, such as nurses who have to work under a doctor's supervision. Skin care is a serious business and can be highly technical, scientific, and commercially profitable. In recent years, it has become very competitive so that the esthetic professional should seek only the best training. | |
